The Fullerton Police Department is urging witnesses of a three-car collision that killed a 42-year-old woman and her 7-year-old daughter to come forward.
The fatal crash occurred shortly before 4:05 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in the intersection of Kimberly and Acacia avenues and involved a 2004 Nissan Altima, a 2001 Hyundai Elantra, and a 2013 Toyota Tundra.
“All of the drivers remained at the scene and it does not appear that alcohol nor drugs played a factor in the cause of the collision,” the Fullerton PD said in a statement.
The woman and her daughter were passengers in the back seat of the 2001 Hyundai and had to be extracted from the vehicle.
Both were immediately transported to area trauma centers.
The 7-year-old was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The child’s mother, who underwent emergency surgery and had been listed as critical, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead Wednesday, Feb. 15.
The Orange County Coroner has identified the two as Maria Bracamonte, 42, and Perla Olivaros, 7.
Investigators have learned that there were other witnesses to the collision who have not come forward to provide statements regarding “this incredibly tragic collision, a collision that instantaneously changed the course for an entire family,” the statement said.
The Fullerton PD and its accident investigators are imploring anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact the Traffic Bureau at 714-738-5313. Information also can be provided anonymously through Orange County Crime Stoppers, by calling 855-TIP-OCCS (855-847-6227) or at occrimestoppers.org
