Garden Grove PD seeks witnesses to fatal stabbing; victim is 19-year-old male

The Garden Police Department is looking for anyone that may have witnessed a stabbing Tuesday night that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man.

The homicide occurred just before 9 p.m. in the area of Avalon Avenue and Fairview Street, according to a news release.

Officers from the Garden Grove Police Department were dispatched to the area of Avalon and Fairview at 8:57 p.m. Tuesday regarding a stabbing that had just occurred.

When officers arrived at the location they found the victim, a male Hispanic, on the street near an apartment complex bleeding from stab wounds.

Paramedics with the Garden Grove Fire Department arrived and started to treat the victim for his injuries. He was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange and pronounced dead at 9:43 p.m.

Garden Grove Police Department investigators collected evidence at the scene Tuesday night and are talking with potential witnesses.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Crime Lab responded to assist in the collection of evidence, and the agency’s bloodhound team responded to try and track the suspect.

Investigators believe the suspect is a male Asian in his 20s wearing dark clothing, and that he fled on foot.

The investigation is ongoing.
