A 53-year-old man run over by a bus in Huntington Beach on Sunday has died, police said.
Police at about 8:30 a.m. on Sunday responded to reports that a pedestrian was hit by an Orange County Transportation Authority bus on Huntington Street, north of Pacific Coast Highway, police said.
Police arrived and found a man lying in the street.
Witnesses told officers the man was hit as the bus was leaving the bus stop.
The pedestrian was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
The man, identified as Huntington Beach resident Richard Collins, died from his injuries Tuesday, police said.
Police said a preliminary investigation shows Collins was a passenger on the bus. Collins exited the bus and as it was pulling away, he fell in to the street and was run over by the rear wheels, police said.
Police said Collins may have been impaired from alcohol. Toxicology reports are pending, police said.
