Police officials recovered another stolen bicycle this weekend and arrested another suspected bike thief thanks to head’s up police work and technology.
The action began to unfold about 5:15 a.m. Sunday when police received a call about a bike theft in progress.
When officers arrived, they found the abandoned bike, but were unable to find the suspect.
That’s when dispatchers reviewed footage from cameras covering the area.
“Dispatchers froze the screen footage and took a cell phone photograph,” said Lt. Mitch O’Brien. “A dispatcher then sent the suspect’s photograph to officers in the field.”
A short while later, the suspect was in custody, arrested on suspicion of grand theft and taken to jail.
