HBPD: Man arrested after biting piece of roommate’s ear off

Huntington Beach police arrested an intoxicated man suspected of fighting with his roommate and biting off part of his ear in the altercation, police said.

An officer making a traffic stop was contacted by a man who said he was attacked by his roommate at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, in the 9100 block of Willhelm Circle, police said.

Police said the men, who were both intoxicated, argued then engaged in a physical fight.

During the altercation, the suspect head-butted his roommate, breaking his nose, police said.

The suspect then started biting his roommate, and eventually bit off a piece of the roommate’s ear, police said.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Huntington Beach City Jail.

At about 10:15 p.m., the suspect’s family came to visit him in jail, police said.

When they wouldn’t bail him out, the suspect got upset and started slamming his head against the wall, police said.

The suspect suffered a severe bruise on his head, and the jail wall was damaged, police said.

Kyle Matthews McMasters, 28, was arrested for felony battery and mayhem and damaging jail property.
