A 29-year-old man died after he crashed his motorcycle into a light pole Monday night in Huntington Beach, police said.

Police at about 9:45 p.m. responded to reports of a traffic accident near Beach Boulevard and MacDonald Drive.

Officers found the motorcyclist lying in the street when they arrived, police said.

The Huntington Beach Fire Department also responded and determined the man died from his injuries at the scene, police said.

A preliminary investigation shows the motorcyclist was driving northbound on Beach Boulevard from Heil Avenue.

Witnesses told police the man was driving recklessly before he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed.  Police said speed appeared to be a factor in the crash.

Police said the man was a Chino resident, but they are not releasing his name until his family is notified.

The Huntington Beach Major Incident Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision.

There have been no arrests and no citations issued, police said.
