Orange County Sheriff’s Department arrests 22-year-old shooting suspect from Anaheim

Orange County Sheriff’s Department investigators on Thursday, Aug. 31, arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of shooting and wounding a 29-year-old man in El Modena.

Sheriff’s North Operations deputies at about 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, responded to reports of a shooting at Rancho Santiago Boulevard and Vine Avenue in unincorporated Orange.

Witnesses told deputies a black Honda occupied by four males fled the scene after the shooting. Deputies also learned a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg was being treated at a local hospital.

After a week-long investigation, members of the Sheriff’s Department SWAT, Tactical Apprehension Team and Gang Enforcement Team on Thursday, Aug. 31, conducted a search warrant and surveillance operation. Investigators believe the shooting is gang-related.

Jesse Sandoval, 22, of Anaheim was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and being involved in a criminal gang. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. Sandoval is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
