A man who had “fresh red paint” on his hands was arrested this week by Tustin police officers after several cars were vandalized with red spray paint.

Donald Loren Knowles, 44, of Tustin was arrested and booked at Orange County Jail on multiple charges of felony vandalism, said Lt. Bob Wright of the Tustin Police Department.

Police officers spoke to the man at 8 a.m. on April 15 at Pacific and Third streets, the Tustin Police Department stated, when an officer noticed paint on the man’s hands. Fourteen vehicles in the area had been spray painted.

Knowles “admitted to spraying several vehicles with the red paint, but did not provided a reason for his actions”, the department stated. The vehicles that were painted also appeared to be chosen at random.

Court records show that Knowles is currently on probation for driving under the influence of alcohol in October 2015 and for public intoxication and battery on a peace officer/emergency personnel in September 2015.
