Photos: Brea Dam blaze gets contained with help from several agencies

Behind the Badge OC photographer Steven Georges was on the scene Saturday afternoon when a vegetation fire broke out in the Brea Dam Recreations Area, temporarily forcing the evacuation of 30 homes in Fullerton.

The Fullerton Fire Department, Anaheim Fire & Rescue, the Anaheim PD and the Orange County Fire Authority were among several agencies that helped get the blaze contained shortly before 6 p.m.

The source of the fire, which broke out around 1:30 p.m. April 18, remains under investigation. No homes were damaged and no injuries were reported.

Crews are expected to be on the scene through Sunday morning.

The Anaheim PD’s airship “Angel” drops water on the vegetation fire. Over the course of two hours, the crew dropped more than 1,500 gallons of water in an effort to protect nearby homes.
