A La Habra couple who was found dead in their home this past May died from the result of a murder-suicide, police announced Monday.

In late May, both Alaina and Kevin A’Lurede were reported missing by family members. Police say they went to their residence near La Habra High School and couldn’t locate the couple. The next day, officers were able to enter the house and found the couple dead, police reported.

“The department’s investigation into the deaths of Kevin and Alaina A’Lurede has been concluded,” said La Habra Police Det. Jose Quirarte. “Based on the evidence in the case, it has been determined that Alaina A’Lurede shot and killed Kevin A’Lurede with a small caliber handgun.”

The handgun was recovered from the bedroom of the home near Kevin Lurede’s body, police said.

“It has been determined that Alaina A’Lurede then committed suicide via a drug overdose,” Quirarte said. “No suicide note was located and there was no indication of a suicide pact.”

Police are unclear if the homicide was premeditated.
