Tustin Police Department arrests barricaded subject following tactical response

On July 20, 2021 at approximately 9:05 am, a Tustin Police officer contacted a subject parked in a vehicle to the rear of 17261 17th Street. During the contact, an assault with a deadly weapon occurred against the officer. After a short pursuit, the suspect stopped his vehicle on Yorba Street, north of Santa Clara Ave. The suspect barricaded himself in the vehicle and refused all orders to surrender.

After prolonged negotiations, the suspect remained barricaded in his vehicle.

Tactical resources from Orange PD, Irvine PD and OCFA were utilized to assist with this incident. Eventually a tactical response was used to take the suspect into custody. The incident concluded safely with no injuries to any officers, members of the public, or the suspect.

The suspect was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail for several violations including:
• Assault with a Deadly Weapon upon an Officer
• Resist or Obstruct an Officer
• Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Drugs

The suspect is identified as Charles Bradley, a 55-year-old resident of Tustin.
