Vargas: ‘Blue’ version of rock video as disturbing as it is moving

Over the past year the dangers and challenges of being a law enforcement officer have been forefront in the public eye. The North Richland Hill Police Department in Texas put this video together as a tribute to the men and women who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way for all of us.

It is as disturbing as it is moving.

The men and women who wear a uniform are first and foremost human beings. Police officers and firefighters are fathers, mothers, husbands and wives. They are someone’s son or daughter.

Police officers have chosen to wear a badge and put on a gun to serve a public that at times can appear thankless. And despite that, they still answer every call for help no matter where or who.

We should never forget that.
