Westminster officers nab prolific tagger

A man suspected of tagging more than 20 locations throughout Westminster was arrested by police Friday.

Police responded to reports of a vandalism in progress at the US Post Office in the 13700 block of Goldenwest Avenue.

Cpl. Mark Lauderback officers Jason Stouffer and James Delk, and Det. Andy Sowers responded quickly and confronted the subject.

They arrested him and the investigation showed the suspect was linked to more than a dozen other graffiti incidents in Westminster and neighboring cities.

Police said he was also linked to a burglary at a mosque.

Investigators continue to work the case and are looking to gather evidicence to support felony charges, police said.

Carlos Ortiz, 20, was arrested on suspicion of vandalism. He is being held at Orange County Jail, police said.
