WPD: Pedestrian in critical condition after being struck by hit-and-run driver

A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after hitting a pedestrian early Saturday morning.

Westminster police at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Brookhurst Street, just north of McFadden Avenue, police said.

Police said an initial investigation shows the suspect was driving northbound when he hit the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he is in critical condition, police said.

Hoa Nguyen, 44, of Costa Mesa was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Westminster police are investigating the collision.
