Garden Grove PD collects 140 pounds of unused prescription meds on Drug Take Back Day

Ten boxes totaling 140 pounds.

That’s a lot of meds.

And that was the haul Saturday, April 30 when the Garden Grove PD, teaming up with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, participated in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., members of the public dropped off unused meds at PD headquarters on Acacia Parkway. The service was free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Take Back Day was created to prevent people from getting their hands on unused drugs, which can lead to drug abuse and possible fatal overdoses.

The Garden Grove PD was one of several law enforcement agencies that took part in Take Back Day.
