Huntington Beach Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man who last week snuck up behind a woman, pulled down her pants and ran away.
It wasn’t the first time the man assaulted her.
The woman told police she walks the same route, near Newland Street and Warner Avenue. On June 17, she was listening to music when he snuck up behind her. When she turned around to confront him, the man laughed then ran south on Newland Street.
The woman told officers the same man grabbed her rear end about a month ago.
The suspect is described as a black male, 20-25 years old, wearing prescription glasses possibly having round frames, short hair cut, having a thin build, 5 feet 11 inches tall wearing a dark short sleeved t-shirt, dark pants and carrying a dark bag of some type on his back.
Police recommend suggest that pedestrians always be aware of surroundings and those who are approaching you.
“This is certainly important if you are wearing headphones or ear buds that limit your ability to hear a person or vehicle approaching you,” the police department said on its Facebook page. “It is always important to carry your cell phone with you when you are out so you can immediately report anything suspicious by dialing 911.”
The woman did not have her cell phone with her on either occasion, police said.
