A man fled Garden Grove Police mid-morning Tuesday after patrol officers in two cars attempted to make a traffic stop. The man hit speeds topping 80 mph before he ditched his car and fled on foot before he was arrested.

The incident unfolded at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 22 in the 8500 block of Stanford Avenue, the GGPD said in a news release.

GGPD officers attempted to stop a blue 1998 Cadillac Deville in the area of Stanford Avenue and Dale Street for traffic violations.

The officers activated emergency lights on their patrol cars but the driver immediately fled at a high rate of speed.

The driver, later identified as Blake Napier, 32, last known address Huntington Beach, drove through Garden Grove at speeds in excess of 80 mph.

Napier stopped his car in front of 11250 Dale St. and fled on foot.

The officer chased Napier on foot and he was apprehended a short distance away without any further incident.

Napier was booked into the Garden Grove Police Jail on suspicion of felony evading a police officer.
