Orange County Sheriff’s deputies on Monday arrested a Laguna Niguel man on suspicion of killing another Laguna Niguel man during an argument Sunday evening.
Steven Richard Gilbert, 59, is suspected of stabbing Thomas Robert Marston, 53, at a residence in the 29000 block of Palo Drive in Laguna Niguel on Nov. 27.
Deputies responded to the residence at about 9:54 p.m. Sunday and discovered Marston lying unconscious with a possible stab wound. Marston was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Gilbert was identified as a possible suspect, but was not at the residence.
Deputies located Gilbert in a vehicle in Mission Viejo and detained him without incident.
Gilbert later was arrested for murder and booked into Orange County Jail, where he is being held on $1 million bail and scheduled to be in court Tuesday, Nov. 29.
Investigators have not determined a motive for the homicide.
The Orange County Coroner will determine the manner and cause of death following their investigation.
